The 97th edition of the 2025 Academy Awards left an unforgettable mark, held on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. With Conan O’Brien as the host, the ceremony was filled with emotion and surprises. In this edition, Anora, the latest masterpiece by Sean Baker, triumphed in the major categories, marking an unprecedented victory. Anora Wins Big as the Night's Top Winner

Anora was the most celebrated film of the night, winning three of the most important awards: Best Picture, Best Director (Sean Baker), and Best Original Screenplay (also for Sean Baker). This film, which has been praised by critics, solidified Baker as one of the most influential filmmakers of his generation. Actress Mikey Madison, who shone in the leading role, was also recognized as Best Actress, completing a cycle of victories that made Oscar history in 2025.

The Other Big Winners

Brazil stood out with Aún estoy aquí (I’m Still Here), which won Best International Feature Film, while Latvia shone with Flow, an animation that surprised with its unique visual storytelling. Documentaries also had a significant presence, with No Other Land winning Best Documentary Feature, and The Only Girl in the Orchestra taking home the award for Best Documentary Short Film.
